I've been told that if you have animals that use the space for their bathroom needs then you will not like the artificial turf. It does stink and requires a lot of water to get clean, the waste has to sprayed off.

I'm looking at xeriscape for my front and backyard needs. Or going with whatever is native here and doesn't require much if any watering. Everyone I know has been talking about making changes to their lawns to use less water.
