Yes, Ferrari sabotaged their race with the hard tire decision. No doubt.
After the race, when Toto was being interviewed, they asked him what he thought was behind Ferrari’s decision to choose the hard tires. He said that Ferrari used an extra set of Mediums on Friday (FP1/2) so they didn’t have another set of Mediums for today. And if they switched to Soft they would have had an extra stop. Which, in the end, they did anyway.
So sad that one of the best 2022 cars, driven by two highly capable drivers, are suffering in the race finishes because of bad strategic decisions during the race. Maybe during the August break they’ll be making some personnel changes. I heard that one of Aston Martin’s strategists is leaving (today was her last race).
