We had some friends that had an open layout house back in the mid-late 80's. They loved it. I thought is was ugly as sin. The only thing I would like about open layout is if you are continually having meetings or parties of large groups. Then the layout makes sense but to each his own. I just wish my wife would stop watching those blankety blank home improvement/remodeling shows! She thinks we can remodel the bathroom for $1000 and have it done in a few weeks. "Chip and Joanna did this..." Yes dear, they didn't pay anything for the highly skilled labor, get custom furniture made for next to nothing in return for having the craftsman on the show, and have warehouses of stuff to use that they didn't have to pay retail to get.
