If the incidence of mental illness is increasing, I think it's due to much more than population density or more frantic lifestyles.
In the last few more recent years societies have sustained enormous and unprecedented shocks. Not the least of which is AI and the internets. In addition, the lockdowns, the violence and the gnawing realization, even if not consciously recognized, that the institutions we have relied on forever, all across the board, are crumbling-and nobody seems to be able to stop it. Faith and respect for our 'leadership' is gone.
Rather suddenly, people are beginning to feel helpless, unprotected and confused.
Helplessness, fear and confusion are not conducive to reason. Underlying our daily lives is the vague awareness that a reckoning is upon us.
