The new hose as long as it's installed tightly shouldn't cause a misfire . Your car is 16 years old when were the plugs and coils last changed ? The coils tend to get cracks in them and that causes misfires .
Yes an OBD scanner is needed to reset the check engine . But if you don't fix the problem it will come back on .
