I am in retirement. This project keeps me busy but is not a rush by any means.
A couple of things I have learned to help the next guy.
Almost everything on this Boxster is accessed from below. Before starting this project know how you are going to raise and lower the car FREQUENTLY.
Identify and mark the tubes, pipes, and lines to and from the engine. This will be very useful later on when plumbing the LS.
I initially thought I would elevate the engine and transmission and lower the car and carve up the car to fit the engine. I was going to make my own engine frame. I cannot express how much more better it was for me to buy the engine and transmission support parts from Renegade. They have their parts so refined that it saved me immeasurable hours and effort in installing the engine and transmission into the car.
The biggest problems I have run into so far are:
1. dressing the front of the engine to make the engine as short as possible
2. exhaust manifolds; most have interference problems.
3. Coolant routing is a nightmare.
I have nearly solved these problems and will provide a follow up in time as I progress with this build.
