I went down to Seat Belt Planet in my 911. I went in and it is just an office, and not really set up for retail sales. A guy at the closest desk ask what he could do for me. So I showed him my old seat belts and the ones they had sold me. He understood the issues. Of course there is no ready source for the stock seat mechanisms for 1980s cars. They can rewebb my old units, and they gave me a full refund of the old seat belts that are useless me, and applied that to my rebuilt ones. They will be done by Thursday. My factory seat belts had a center section for a cozy third passenger. It has only been used a few dozen time in the 30 years I have owned the car, but I wanted it as well.
So it started as replace the seat belts. But to get the seat belts out I have to remove the seat. Well while I am in there, it is the perfect time to replace the old faded and worn out carpet, so might as well. And the speakers in the dash are junk, so while I am in there, I might as well get speakers for the doors. Project creep for sure.
The guy there is a car guy. He saw my 911 and I showed him my car, and we chatted about it for 15 minutes. He builds Shelby Mustangs as a side gig, and has a 66 Mustang restomod and some more modern Mustang. Super nice place.
