It's worse than that, even if you have a dealer's license, there are no deals at CoPart. I've watched wrecked cars routinely come to within 20% of retail.
Especially if it's an old Porsche, everyone with a little bit of knowledge will overvalue it.

Case in point, I sold my autocross 914 this year on ebay for $6000, running and driving, but running rough. A dealer bought it, had it shipped to the local CoPart where it got auctioned for $14,000. The guy that bought it had no idea the history, once I showed him the ebay ad accurately describing the car, he pulled out, and the car is still for sale at CoPart. But lots of guys buy cars on there having no idea, and those are the guys you have it bid against.
