First, just like having a gas gauge, EVs have a charge or battery gauge. I can only speak to Teslas because that is what I own but my car's GPS will try to stop me when I have less than 100 miles of charge and I am farther than 100 miles from my destination. It also adds the charger as a stop point in the GPS directions. On my Tesla App, I also have roadside assistance, if needed.
That said: There are a few mobile charging services popping up. You can have them come on a schedule and charge your car regularly or in emergency situations. Here is one of those companies in Canada but there are a couple in the US for anyone interested: EV Fast
