I usually title for first time at the private titling companies. It costs about $30 but it takes no time at all. Much better than sitting in the Tax office, which in San Antonio is horrible.
Then my annual sticker I either get online or from HEB for $0 fee. So long as you are doing it before the end of the actual expiration month HEB is your friend. They have the stickers right at the customer service window (right where you get your Powerball ticket)
