Sunday we had Monterey weather. It was in the 50s in the morning and the high was low 70s and low humidity. Just wonderful weather. We had a great time at the autocross. I got home about 1:00 PM and was still slathered in sun screen. I just changed in to my yard mowing clothes and shoes and mowed my yard. As I was finishing up, I got a text from the friend that was at the car show on Saturday. He owns a very nice old original 67 912. It has plenty of patina, but looks nice. His Porsche badge is really beat up, and missing some of the orange in the bars. In that era, the badge had orange not red bars. The posts that hold it in place are broken off, and he uses double sided tape to hold it on. I mentioned I had an badge with the orange bars, and posts are in good shape.
That got his attention. He came by yesterday as I was finishing up mowing. I showed him the badge. It has been stuck to the drywall in my garage above my workbench since we moved in 24 years ago. I I carefully pried it off, and he was smitten.
I figured it was $100 or so. He offered me $300 and I said sold. I like that it will go on a car that needs it, and be seen and I just made 300 bucks. I had no real use for it.
