Forward v backward doesn't matter. Put the car on however you can to get the tongue weight to be just about 15% of the total (use a truck stop to weigh every axle and do the math).
Forward has better aero, backwards might have better weight distribution, depending on its shape and size.
Rear spoilers might rip off backwards. Windshields might pop out if the windows are left open.
I've used Montway several times for cross-country shipping and they seem to use good drivers.
