I work on and fly several freinds 18's (cc, jvrn, & pipr (husky... cubish) etc) plenty of experience here. For durability and longevity I'd roll with airframes ak Javon Dakota and piper over cc. Just a personal perspective from maintenance and off airport opps. The cc is probably sweeter to fly than all of them for sure, and the build outs are certainly gorgeous, but when you chase weight that aggressively in design you make trade offs.
A couple of local ak flyer buds mentioned this as well. CC puts out awesome stuff ..... at a premium. For my cashish I'll take a 993 AND a tired piper sc double the fun for 1/2 the money.
Oh... and ya I know huskies are not Cubs I only included them in the comparison as an example of extreme durability and utility. Who wouldn't want that toughness and the extra speed? Still stupid pricy though and they aren't as sweet to fly as any 18.
