I’d love to replace my 9 year old cayman which doesn’t seem possible so I was thinking about a new pick up as a stop gap but that doesn’t even seem possible.
So what’s the real deal and when is it going to be over?

It's pretty much everything, but in no particular order. Keep looking for the car you want and if the price is decent, get it.
IMO, new cars will be the better deal. Used will take years to stabilize. Fewer new cars will lead to fewer...well, you know.
