I’ve been trying to get a Cayman GTS allocation for about 6 months but even as a previous customer I’ve had no luck.
I drove a new Tundra today. I liked it. It was a short drive but the ride seemed much better than my last truck, a 2008 Silverado. It only had 5 miles on it so I didn’t floor it but even 1/4 throttle felt pretty strong. I did some pretty fast turns and it felt planted well for a big truck. The Ram 1500 gets really good reviews so I’ll drive one too but it would have to be really good to overcome the quality deference.
The salesman was better than the one I talked to Friday. He pulled up their delivery schedule and showed me what’s on the lot and on the truck plus what’s already spoken for. Probably the most transparent a salesman has been outside a porsche dealership. He said they have not been able to order a truck for 3 years and just get what Toyota sends them. Sounds like they get a Tundra every few days so maybe something thats close enough will come up before too long. He said they price them at MSRP but I’m pretty sure all get window tint and ceramic coating add on. There was a Tundra TRD Pro out front and he said they only get one a month so they get a $20k premium over the $71k sticker.
