I would think maybe EV's could need a system installed in or on the battery storage area . Race cars have had them for a long time , why hasn't it trickled down to every day cars ? Cost ?

I'm guessing cost AND that car fires are pretty rare.
I'm wondering if there's anything that can be done with an EV car to kill a battery fire. They usually seem pretty extreme. I want to say that I heard about a Tesla that was sent to a lot after a crash or something that caught fire. THe FD went out and battled it for hours. They'd get it out and then it would reignite. The ended up digging a whole and making a mud puddle big enough to submerge the car in. That was the only way that they were able to permanently defeat the fire.
