Yea, he loved it.
He complained that the rich folks would just hire a pit crew so they just arrived at the track, hopped in, ran the race, and left the crew to do all the work to get to the next track. I guess it is all dependent on how deep ones pockets are, and how much they are will to spend on toys.
One of my other friends is single, he owns three motorcycles, a car, a pickup, a Cessna 210 Turbo, and a 1946 Cessna 140, he has three hangars, one has a complete shop and office in the end. All just for fun. He is a commercial pilot, and on occasions if my business partner is out on a job, he will fly a project for us. He really does not want to fly for money anymore. He does fly up to Oshkosh fairly regularly but he skipped it this year. Super nice guy. One of those folks that I can't image anyone does not like him.
