Doing the BIOS chip replacement inspired me to check the BIOS version on my main system. Sure enough, I was running a BOIS from 9-24-21 and the current version is from May 2022.
It is always a bit scary to do it, as it is changing the core of the computer system. My computer takes forever from initial cold start to even see the BIOS screen. I have to assume is it checking the RAM memory, and counting through the 256 gig takes a while and always makes me pucker looking at a black display and no activity. Finally the BIOS splash comes on, and with a BIOS change, it reboots multiple times.
The only real reason I updated was my audio system has been acting up. I download the latest Audio drivers and it is insane, 401 MB just for the sound driver! I was on my 4th computer or so before I even had a 400 MB hard drive. The BIOS update seems to have fixed the audio issues so far so I will leave the audio update uninstalled for now.
