
On 2 October 1952: The Big Ugly Fat Fu#ker (BUFF) took to the skies for the very first time. The Boeing XB-52 Stratofortress prototype, left Boeing Field, Seattle, Washington, with the famed Dash 80 aerobatic test pilot, Alvin M. “Tex” Johnston at the controls.
Amazingly, all these years later, The BUFF is still flying...
Here is a BUFF fact that many of you didn't know; The Buff is even credited with three air to air kills during the Viet Nam war, thanks to the B-52D tail gunners who took down three MiG-21 Fishbeds when their aircraft came under attack.
