What a $hit$how F1 is right now - under all its' netflix newfound visibility..
Cost cap was found to be breached for Redbull and Aston - now what ? Retroactively remove the championship ? or just the team's and not the driver's ? Fine them ? Reduce their aero time for next year ? No decision yet. REdbull's is a "minor overspend" infraction - Aston "procedural only"
Photo finish between alonso and Vettel ? Completely missed !
Many years ago Bianchi died stupidly because of a crane on the suzuka track. Guess what they did again this year ? A crane, on track, in the fog... And they had the balls to reprimand Gasly for driving past the crane too fast. WTH ? Talk about covering your own mistakes by pointing the finger elsewhere - the guy could not see and that was exactly the point of never having cranes on track with cars circulating !! Jesus !
Even the LEC/PER thing.. "Gaining an advantage" used to mean you passed the guy but missed the next turn, so you gave it back. But if you were already ahead and missed a turn, all you ever gave back was the extra distance you gained. I don't recall a 5 sec penalty for that, ever... Do you ? I never liked this rule in truth, I actually do prefer what they did this time (and penalize the guy who missed the turn), but it's the first time I see it applied that way - usually the guy in front stays in front even if he missed a turn historically Fine, either way, but pick one ? The lack of consistency in rules applications overall is terrible.. And the utter confusion in scoring was something to behold ! The FOM/FIa management is crap.
Wonder what the deal is gonna be now - retroactively changing WC results is kinda lame. I think future penalties is best, hobble Redbull and Aston with less Aero time and a mean accounting supervisor. Make Horner to fly Easyjet ;-) Marko to ride in a caravan... Gotta laugh as Alonso's usual prescience in picking a loser team - if Aston does get cut at the knees for this.
