They are lying.

I think their contention is that they're saying that the FIA is including costs that shouldn't be in the cap, and the FIA is saying that they're in the cap. That there's only one team that went over tells me that RB knew exactly what the cap applied to, blew it, and are trying to wriggle out of consequences.

Other team principals were aware that RB was over the cap when the review started last year before the season was over. This is not a shocker to RB.

When it comes to bull**** politicking amongst the team principals, nobody compares to Horner. And it works for them, so why not keep it up?

Because they should never be occupying the track at the same time as the race cars unless fully bunched up behind the safety car.
