We lived in a neighborhood for about 17-18 years. I don't think we had nicknames for them. We knew the 3 neighbors (either side and across the street) as they had lived in the house when my wife lived in the house as a teen. When the first one moved, we knew their replacements (same first names as us). THat was more than I wanted/needed to know any neighbors.

Now we live in a rural setting. We've probably got 4 neighbors within 1/2 mile. Last Sat we finally met the closest neighbors. We met the furthest earlier this year when they harvested the hay from the field next to our property and the grandsons watched (they love tractors). We will probably never meet the other two because we'd probably drive there.

We did have a nickname for one lady near the apt where we lived before here. She was "crazy cat lady." The "crazy" and "cat" both fit to a T.
