I remember Levi 501's cost $3.98 in 1958. That would be $41 now days (according to the inflation calculator I looked at). Those jeans were stiff until you had worn & washed them several times, & the material was thick and durable. I don't know how much they cost now days. At my age, I only wear a certain set of clothes and almost never buy something new. Clothing now days is thin, cheap, has inconsistent quality. They use every trick to cut corners like printing the labels instead of sewing them in - although the practicallity of it doesn't make any difference, but there are many other examples too. I've had some items of clothing for more than half a century, & it's interesting to compare those with what you buy now days.
