If you live in California, and you ever are forced to use a firearm in self defense, you will never see it again. This is not the case for most states, but here, NY, NJ and IL you will likely go to jail for a while too.

Before losing my Colt 1903 in the Rio Grande I used consider using it for concealed carry. Sad thing, that was a great gun and was built in 1928.
Far too valuable and sentimental to do that. I agree, if you ever have to use it, you may not ever see it again.
