I have had one for 5 years including extensive absences where the printer was not used.
So far its been perfect and I still have not gone through the original allocation of inks (which was supposed to be 2 years worth of printing).
It does need to have its heads cleaned from time to time, but in my mind after a few HP's and one Canon lasers I went to Epson
I think this Epson approach is a far better approach than those stupid cartridges which are just ways to milk you for overpriced ink. At least the Epson approach is more moderate and affordable.
