The lockout has to be on the passenger side for the 915 trans. That is where reverse is. The left side is for the 901 trans which has reverse on the left side.
I installed this shifter in my 901 trans and have had no issues with lockout. I have the heavier springs and the extension and would do this combo again. It feels really solid. I have not installed the coupler yet.
