Would a smooth, rigid tube help with that (vs flexible corrugated)? I think it would. But yes, I think more frequent cleaning would be in order.

I think in the apts that we used to live in the maintenance guys would come around with a leaf blower that would blow through the tube. You could tell when they'd do that cleaning because there would be lint outside that afternoon.
