Craig....yeah that's what I was referring to in post #1 when I wrote "resin".
Being a surfboard guy I have tons of experience in using it but never doing outdoor furniture.
Some good tips here.
I will probably sit the piece inside my climate controlled home for a month before applying the resin just to make sure it's dried out good.
