Started her up. Real close to a test drive. Need to get all the air out of the coolant and close up the firewall. As I said before this project is not for the novice, but it is not really that bad in the end. Thought I would update everyone on some of the challenges I had with wiring. I used the original engine wiring harness eliminating things not needed. Once I got the engine running, I eliminated almost all the wiring coming from the Porsche engine controller. My Boxster has a 996 cluster and I think everything is working. Starting from the left side of the cluster the voltmeter works as it always did. As far as I can tell the spedo is connected to the wheels and will work as before. The tachometer on the 03 is CAN buss from the engine controller. Porsch and my LS happen to have the same reluctor count so I simply tapped the Porsch crank speed into the LS crank sensor to get tach. I added a Porsche temp sensor to the LS and it goes through the Porsche engine controller and then CAN Buss to the cluster. The oil pressure alarm and gauge operate as before with the sensor moved to the LS. The Cluster oil level operation is fooled without an alarm with a 10 ohm resistor in place of the missing sensor. I had a lot of trouble with the fans. The Porsche ECM provide a ground for high and low fans and I have not been able to get the porsche ECM to operate fans. I can say the same thing for LS ECM. I added a 190 degree F grounding switch for the low speed fans and so the fans are still a project. In summary, my engine is running and most if not all the integration is working. Good Luck to anyone wanting to try this conversion and I hope some of this helps.
