My new to me planer (eBay purchase) threw a blade clamp screw on my first project. Although all seemed OK on my test run, I should have checked the blades and screw clamp tension before using. The loose screw broke a blade and blade clamp. See the clamp screw impression in the wood in the center of this pic.

Damage included 1 blade, 1 blade clamp and 6 of 8 blade screws. Fortunately the internal breaker was tripped and the machine shut down.

Ordered new blades, blade clamp and new screws. Additionally, I noticed that the factory chain on the cutting head adjustment setup had too much play in it. Adjustment crank traveled 1/4 turn before the head would move so I decided to add a change tensioner by adding an additional factory chain sprocket. this totally eliminated the chain slop and there is now zero play in the crank.
