Thank to the Army I was privileged to live in a bunch of places: Germany, UK, Watertown NY, El Paso, Hawaii, Savannah GA, to mention a few with varied weather.
Got sent to El Paso after Hawaii. Thought I'd hate it. Did not, actually loved it as much as Watertown.
I loved them all. What I didn't love was Fort Campbell KY and Dayton Ohio.
Watertown NY is on banks of Lake Ontario and about 20 miles from Canada border on I-81. Lots and lots of snow every year. You just get used to it. I much prefer blowing snow over mowing grass. As long as you have electric plug in start and heated handles on your snow blower you are golden. Sure winter may appear to be a mofo from the outside, but if you embrace it for what it is, it becomes pretty enjoyable. You can usually park anywhere you want when going to stores because the lines of the parking lot are obscured. You can do handbrake turns at will.
