A couple of summers ago I did a stint at Scott Base in Antarctica. McMurdo station was just over the hill from us. The USAP blocked off their radiators but we didn't on our landcruisers but you'll note some of the ducting was blocked. All vehicles had block heaters, most had webasto diesel heaters. It does get warm enough at the peak of summer that neither have to be used unless some bad weather rolls in.
