There was a local professional photographer that paid a large sum to his church's local religious university to give him a PhD in photography. He called himself Dr. He was a terrible photographer, and never could get an good exposure on film. I processed a lot of his stuff and it was horrid. He finally gave up on a career as a photographer, and listed to the old adage, those that can, do. Those that can't, teach. He got hired to teach photography at a local university. The university does not just accept the title, they checked it out. They did not recognize his PhD and they said he could not use the title Dr. and he had to teach as a emeritus teacher for a lot less money. He had to be a better teacher than photographer.
