I recently had my ‘83 944 smogged, and it passed. Two things of interest: The smog tech said early German cars like mine, reset the O2 sensors if I turn off the engine, which makes them difficult to pass the smog. So next time he said to drive 5 miles on the freeway to get really warm, and do NOT turn off the engine before smog I get. Secondly, I have a small under-hood light to help see things under the hood when it’s dark. I could never figure how that light turned on, but the smog tech made it work by opening the hood then turning on the driving lights. Wow! And the light turns off when the hood is lowered.
