1973 914 Optional Clock

So I've been working on my car for about a decade, it had set a decade before that with a dead battery. I got the car running great earlier this year and now I'm just going through the little things to be fixed.

The gauge is the white back cap VDO with the 3 5mm nuts. I took off the cover and checked that the fuse was still soldered and it is. I didn't think about checking continuity through the solder till this morning. The back gauge lights works so I know the ground is good. The clock circuit is getting power as well. My question is, is there anything else that I can check, or is it time to just send it to a specialist? While messing with it a little bit, I did hear it start working for a brief second.
