In the interest of full disclosure, getting the windshield in required (a) carefully gluing down the dried, stretched out vinyl so that it was tight against the back of the pinch weld all the way around; and (b) replacing the upper part of the dash. The old dash had warped just enough to prevent the windshield from seating properly. I used the genuine Porsche dash piece, which was pricey. My glass guys said that some of the aftermarket dash pieces will cause problems with the windshield install.
