I've experienced -4ºF when we were in Japan when I was 8, although it's very rare for it to get that low. When I was 13-14-15, I delivered newspapers door to door on foot, and have delivered in driving snow with single digit temps and negative single digit wind chill. That weather is plenty extreme for me. I think I actually experienced similar weather (colder wind chill) in Texas back in Jan of '21.

I remember reading about some town in Russia (I think inside the arctic circle) where the temps get down to something silly like -100º and the summer temps can peak up over 100º.
