If you don't have reliable charging infrastructure near the areas you frequent most then hybrid or traditional ICE is certainly less effort.
I'm 1 year into EV ownership and don't have range anxiety anymore because I'm familiar with how my vehicle consumes energy in different situations and the availability of nearby charging options. I suspect it's like this for most people who have charging options they're comfortable with nearby.
That said, it was a little bit of a nail-biter when this happened as I pulled into the driveway after driving 300 miles home.
