I bought the RB6 version of the Haynes manuals a while back. I wish I could remember why I picked that one; all things being equal, on any given day I would've rather had the one for the MP4/4. Maybe that one was already sold out. Fun to read once, it's unfortunately not a 'repair manual', more like a magazine full of facts and pictures.
As for my takeaway on the video above, I was fascinated with the mounting of the front shocks on tracks as opposed to being bolted into a link. I thought that was a brilliant solution for giving the driver a little room in the footbox. (My second takeaway was the fact that great care had to be taken to keep from bending the slender pullrods!)
(My third takeawaywas that the starting procedure didn't yet require the oil and fluids to be brought up to working temperature to open the tolerances of the moving parts)
A great video. And the pride that the mechanic had toward the car and his job was wonderful. I'd love to hang out for a long afternoon in the pub with him! Or SN. Either or.
