i did have a cortisone shot in late Oct. but was told at the time my joint was so bad it may only last 6 to 8 weeks, and all be it's started to bother me again in the last week or so. still not as bad as before the shot. be advised that a surgery cannot be performed for a minimum of 3 months after the shot. i went with it because i knew with the holidays all the pre-approval through insurance and scheduling would be at least that long. im have mine done mid February.
Paul, Seahawk here has had one done and is having another one soon. he provided a couple links and some info that was very helpful to me. ive got classes to attend and a clearance appointment from my primary care doc before it's all a go. good luck with your appointment tuesdee.

Thanks for the response.
I have no cartilage. Doc said he can kick the can down the road with shots and physical therapy for a few months but I need a hip. April.
I did ask him specifically about the BMI issue and he did say the cut off was 40. He added that for every pound you lose that's five pounds of joint impact removed which aids in revcovery.
