Start looking for a place to stay right NOW. Shoulda make plans a year ago.

The 2017 eclipse caught a bunch of people off guard (ie. B&B places unaware of the levels of interest). AirBNB places outside of Austin are sold out, and went for 3-4 times the normal rate. This eclipse is going to be a money grab for lots of people.

I've made plans to be just north of Dallas, in return for some lodging and such I'm probably going to be the resident Astronomer for the small town, and will be responsible for setting up some telescopes, maybe a star party the night before, and maybe a talk or two.


Some of y'all are broken souls, if a total eclipse wasn't an amazing experience for you. This will be my third totality, I hope for 3 more. I've also been in the path of the 1994 95% annular eclipse, the ring of fire is almost as cool as totality.
