Right on cue, this email from my dentist today.
So turns out Humana had the right idea just to issue everyone a credit card to pay for dental work. Finally, something positive happening in my favor that I had no control over. Except the decision I made to go with Humana in the first place!
==========
Dear Valued Patient,
After much deliberation, we have decided to end our preferred provider status with some dental insurance companies.
We have always maintained a high standard of care for our patients, and have been unwilling to compromise or cut corners just because of insurance companies shortcomings. We have avoided using cheap materials, overseas laboratories, and outdated technology. In the current environment of managed health care, many insurance companies are adding more and more restrictions on what they will allow for their subscribers.
What does this mean for you?
Effective 02/01/2023, we will continue to accept your insurance, however, we will do so as an out-of-network provider. You can continue to have your dental care at our office. In the past we have found that most of our patients in this situation have chosen to pay a little more copay and continue to receive the high level care that we provide.
We will continue to file your insurance claims for you as we always have. We will collect all fees at the time of service and your insurance company will send the check for their portion directly to you instead of sending it to our office.
We appreciate your loyalty, and hope that this has only a positive impact on your dental care. Please call our office if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
