Are there any Tesla Gurus here?

I was wondering . . .

Occasionally there is a news story about a car that somehow ends up in a pool. The most recent one happened in Pasadena CA, where a(n) (insert your own adjective here) driver mistakenly hit the accelerator, crashed through a wall and ended up in a pool.

My question is; Teslas in particular, have 300-400 volt A/C power packs. Once the vehicle gets submerged in the pool wouldn’t any occupant or potential rescuer get electrocuted? In the case of the crash in Pasadena, the three occupants and two rescuers all escaped with only minor injuries.

Naturally this question would apply to any electric vehicle.

I just don’t understand the physics. What happens to all the stored energy. Remember a chlorinated pool will transmit electricity much better than a body of distilled water.

Thanks for your thoughts.
