Here's a photo of a 968 Torsen I have in the shop right now. I hope the photo is clear enough: the teeth are smooth and without striation, chips, or other signs of wear or poor manufacture - for the most part.
By the by, this is a Type 1 Torsen, also called an "original Torsen." There is a Type II that reorients the worm gears and is simpler and lighter.
