I left USAA in about 2017 when I added my second kid to policy. Liberty Mutual was cheaper by a long shot. Then a year later without any claims my Liberty policy increased to where it would have been with USAA. So running back I went.
Leaving USAA is a huge pain in the behind. You cannot do it online and
must call in. They then try to 'match' the other quote and when they can't they still try to keep you. But sir... you've been a member for 30something years. So, if you want to keep me match this price... We can't. Bye then. That took 30 to 45 minutes.
The good thing about leaving USAA is that you get the money from that account they have for you that was substituted for the annual refund check you used to get. Mine was nearly $4k.
