Way back before computers I went to a house to buy a lamp or whatever for sale I found in the want ads. In the garage were the eyeballs of a TR-3 sticking out from under a canvas tarp. So of course I ask the lady about it. She pulls the tarp. The car looked in beautiful shape, including the top and side curtains with sliding glass windows. The little adjustable glass wind deflectors that attach to the a-pillars were on the seat. ‘You want it?’ ‘Sure, I says, ‘How much?’ She says some ridiculously low amount, like under a grand. I says I’ll be right back I didn’t bring my checkbook. No problem, she says.
So I run home, return with my checkbook and knock on the door. Husband opens the door, ‘It’s not for sale. Sorry.’
