My 79 CIS had the male cone with nut on the engine side, which screwed on to the female cone chassis side return line. I do believe this configuration changed over the years, so you will likely need some adapter. I can't speak to the 83 CIS, but your 79 should have 3 lines that go through a metal retaining bracket on the driver front of the engine bay. 1 is fuel in, 1 is fuel return, and the big one is the brake booster vacuum line. The fuel in, should terminate in a J bend fitting that goes to the top of the accumulator.
