On a minor tangent, every company finds a bunch of little oopsies after the car is released and sends its dealer techs TSB's (technical service bullitens) so they can quietly correct them while the car is in for service and the company avoids the iron fist of the lemon law as well as the bad publicity.

You can call the dealer and they'll run your vin to check for any outstanding "updates".

A recall is pretty signifigant. Fords experienced them with gas tank sealant coming loose, map sensors in the wrong place, breaking lug nuts, etc... but seems to have beaten the rap.
