I was in West Palm Beach working at the Sikorsky Flight Test Facility when a Cat II (this was in the 90's) was approaching WPB. They closed my hotel. See ya.
I headed north as far as I could get. The storm, of course, sped up and jogged north as well and came ashore as a Cat I right over where I was staying. No issues, just something to think about.
