Look up Ackermann Steering or Steering Ackermann.
It's complex and I don't completely understand, but the sound you hear when turning is the two front wheels not cutting the same arc. This happenstance gets greater the tighter the corner. The sound you hear is the inside tire "skipping" to keep up with the outer tire.
